Hello peeps!!!!
I write this while sipping on some hot coffee, just so you know you are not alone in this friggin cold morning!!! K how do we beat the cold now that none of us take it seriously until we catch the cold flu....mmmmh!!! the scarf, leggings, socks, boots, jeans, sweater, the hoodie for non formal settings and of course the coats are good enough to keep you warm. Then comes the Afro idea, how do all this cold clothing fit in your ethnic dress code - the Afro style? Here are some tips. Apparently we don't want to overdo things. Just recently our very own Blackbird designers showcased there designs in New York's Africa Fashion Week. As a matter of fact, they were in the winter collection 2012. We could borrow a leaf from these designs you know. I have a feeling someone is about to tell me that i must be joking but hey fashion is dynamic and we should embrace this fact... I don't want to contradict myself in the statement about overdoing things.Yes in some of these designs too much print fabric has been used and it would take some bold spirited person to pull it off successfully. What if we decided we would use either Kitenge, Kikoi (the so called African plaid), Leso or Kanga in the fabric we make our coats from and then pair them with nice black pants and or dark skinny jeans don't you think that would do for some of these cold mornings!? Huh? Here are some the designs the Black bird showcased.
Before I forget I am carrying a kikoi bag today have a look at how simplistic it is.
